About Our Guest Jessica Maguire:

Jessica’s passion for health first lead to a degree in Health Science, studying the use of electrocardiography: how the heart’s electrical impulses are amplified and recorded. She then went on to complete a Masters of Physiotherapy and spent over fourteen years helping people improve the health of their brain and body.

Through her clinical experience in neurology and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and her previous study into how heart rate variability effects the brain, she was fascinated by neuroscience and the potential for the brain and nervous system to change.

Jessica has studied neurophysiology throughout Europe, America, the UK and Australia. She has learnt from pain researchers, professors in neuroplasticity, neuroscientists and psychologists on how the brain and nervous system change from stress, trauma and chronic pain. Her post-graduate study has lead to further qualifications in clinical mindfulness, trauma-sensitive biofeedback, polyvagal theory and the use of transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation.

Jessica believes that knowledge is power, and that we are empowered when we have autonomy in reshaping our mind-body system. Her specialty now is teaching patients about the vagus nerve and their nervous system, and how “stress-related illness” such as anxiety, depression, gut disorders, autoimmune issues and chronic pain can arise from dysregulation after chronic or traumatic stress.

She uses Vagus Nerve Workshop and Masterclass, as well as the Vagus Nerve Program to help people get to the cause of their problems, rather than just relying on others to treat their symptoms.

Nervous system dysregulation also affects the immune and endocrine system, which in turn influence the cardiovascular, reproductive and digestive systems. By recalibrating the nervous system many chronic health issues can improve.

Her areas of expertise include:

  • nervous system dysregulation from chronic stress and trauma

  • chronic pain

  • fibromyalgia

  • inflammatory conditions

  • anxiety and depression

  • digestive issues

  • insomnia

  • chronic fatigue

  • rheumatoid arthritis
